Unlock e-PAN Card PDF
Open your password-protected e-PAN card PDF — password is your date of birth (DDMMYYYY).
e-PAN PDF password — DOB format explained
Every e-PAN card PDF issued by the Income Tax Department (via NSDL or UTIITSL) is password-protected. The password is always your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format — no spaces, no slashes. Example: DOB 15 August 1990 → password 15081990. This tool builds the password from your date of birth and unlocks the PDF locally, without uploading your PAN document anywhere.
Where you receive your e-PAN PDF
- Income Tax e-Filing portal (incometax.gov.in) — Instant e-PAN download after Aadhaar OTP
- NSDL PAN portal (tin-nsdl.com) — e-PAN for new applicants and corrections
- UTIITSL PAN portal (utiitsl.com) — alternative issuer; same password format
- DigiLocker — e-PAN stored in DigiLocker is the same password-protected PDF
Common password mistakes
The most frequent error is a wrong date format. The DDMMYYYY format requires zero-padded day and month — 1 January 2000 becomes 01012000, not 112000. The year is always 4 digits. There are no separators. If your DOB is from a different source than your PAN application, try both — the password matches the DOB on the PAN record, which may differ from your Aadhaar if there was a data mismatch. For the full format reference, see the PAN Password Format page.
How to use this tool
- Upload your e-PAN PDF.
- Enter your date of birth in DD / MM / YYYY fields.
- Click Unlock & Download — the unlocked e-PAN saves to your device.
Frequently asked questions
What is the exact password format for e-PAN?
DDMMYYYY — Day (2 digits, zero-padded) + Month (2 digits, zero-padded) + Year (4 digits). No spaces, no slashes. DOB 5 March 1995 = 05031995.
Wrong password — what should I try?
Try zero-padding both day and month. If you applied with a different DOB (e.g. from Aadhaar vs birth certificate), try that date too. The password matches the DOB on your PAN application, not necessarily your Aadhaar.
Does this work for e-PAN from DigiLocker?
Yes. The e-PAN stored in DigiLocker is the same NSDL/UTIITSL PDF — same password format applies.
Is my PAN card document safe?
Yes. Unlocking runs entirely in your browser. Your e-PAN PDF and date of birth are never sent to any server.
Can I also remove the password permanently?
Yes — after unlocking, use the Unlock PDF tool on the resulting file to save a permanently password-free copy.
