What Is the Salary Slip PDF Password?

Most companies and payroll platforms password-protect payslip PDFs so they can be safely emailed without exposing salary details if forwarded accidentally. The password is always derived from details you already know — your employee ID, date of birth, or name.

TCS Salary Slip Password Format

TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) uses EmployeeID@DDMMYYYY as the payslip password. For employee ID 1234567 with DOB 15 August 1990, the password is 1234567@15081990.

Your TCS Employee ID is a 7-digit number visible on your TCS ID card, in the Ultimatix portal under My Profile, and on the top of every payslip.

Infosys Payslip Password Format

Infosys payslips use DD-MM-YY format — day, month, and a 2-digit year, separated by dashes. For DOB 15 August 1990, the password is 15-08-90.

Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Capgemini, Accenture, Tech Mahindra

Most large Indian IT companies (other than TCS and Infosys) default to DOB as DDMMYYYY. For DOB 15 August 1990, the password is 15081990.

If this does not work, your company’s HR may have configured a custom password in their payroll system. Common fallbacks: employee code + DOB, or PAN lowercase + DOB. Check the email body when the payslip was sent — some payroll systems include the password format in the email.

Payroll Platform Defaults

GreytHR

GreytHR’s default payslip password is DOB as DDMMYYYY. Some companies using GreytHR customise this — your HR team may have changed it. If DDMMYYYY fails, contact your HR for the custom password.

Keka

Keka payslip password is DOB as DDMMYYYY by default. If your company uses Keka but has set a custom password, it is typically communicated in the onboarding documents.

Darwinbox

Darwinbox uses DOB as DDMMYYYY for payslip PDFs in its default configuration. Enterprise clients may override this.

ERPNext

ERPNext’s default salary slip password is SAL-FirstName-BirthYear. For first name ABCD born in 1990, the password is SAL-ABCD-1990. The first name used is the one stored in the ERPNext employee profile, which may differ from legal name.

Zoho Payroll

Zoho Payroll’s default password for payslip PDFs is DOB as DDMMYYYY. This can be configured by the company admin.

Common Password Patterns (if employer not listed)

• DOB as DDMMYYYY — most common default
• DOB as DDMMYY — some older systems
• PAN lowercase + DOB — used by some payroll platforms
• Employee code + DOB — common in manufacturing and PSUs
• Mobile number (last 4 or last 6) — some BFSI companies

If none of these work, check the original email from your HR/payroll system — the password or its format is often mentioned in the body of that email.

• Home / personal loan: Banks and housing finance companies require the last 3–6 salary slips in an openable format for income verification
• Rental agreement: Many landlords and property management portals request unlocked payslips as income proof
• Credit card application: Banks require recent salary slips for limit enhancement and new card applications
• Visa income proof: Embassies (UK, Schengen, Canada) require salary slips as part of the financial documents bundle

Password Not Working? Troubleshooting Steps

• Step 1 — Try DDMMYYYY: Your date of birth in 8-digit format. This works for Wipro, Cognizant, HCL, Capgemini, Accenture, GreytHR, Keka, Darwinbox, ADP and Zoho Payroll.
• Step 2 — For TCS: Confirm Employee ID is 7 digits. Format is 1234567@15081990.
• Step 3 — For Infosys: Confirm 2-digit year and include dashes: 15-08-90.
• Step 4 — Try DDMMYY: Some older payroll systems or payslips from before 2019 used a 2-digit year without dashes.
• Step 5 — Try PAN lowercase + DDMMYYYY: Some payroll platforms (especially BFSI sector) use this as the password.
• Step 6 — Check the email body: Password is often mentioned in the salary slip delivery email from HR.
• Step 7 — Contact HR: Most companies have an internal HRMS or helpdesk where you can raise a payslip access request.

Salary Slip vs Form 16 vs Offer Letter Passwords

• Salary slip: Usually DOB-based or employee ID based (as in table above).
• Form 16 (Part A): Typically DOB as DDMMYYYY; generated by employer using TDS system.
• Offer letter: Most companies do not password-protect offer letters.
